STEVE SAMUELS
Stephen (Steve) Samuels was born in St. Thomas, Jamaica. Being from a musical family it did not take too long for him to adapt that musical talent. When he saw and heard a Bass guitar at age seven, Steve knew then he wanted to play bass.
In the early ‘70’s having emigrated to the U.S. Steve got into Gospel, Funk, Jazz and Roots Reggae. Over the years he has worked with many renowned artists and groups such as The Itals, Glen Washington, Everton Blender, Abyssinians, Sister Carol, Half Pint and Cocoa Tea. In 1994, Steve joined the group Moja Nya and soon after he began working with Mr. Joseph Hill and the group Culture with whom he toured for thirteen years.
Steve Samuels brings a heavy bass sound to T.O.W nucleus. Band members call him the ‘Chef’. Acquiring this name from when they were recording the ‘Miracle’ album at the Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, as they put every penny into the recording and food was an issue they all pitched in and Steve came up with a delightful Jamaican cuisine which kept them healthy for the continuation of the recording of the album. Steve is currently endorsed by Yamaha Bass Guitars.
