DESI HYSON

Desii hails from the Caribbean Isle of Dominica. After immigrating to the USA, in the late ‘70’s, Desii’s interest in music, particularly Reggae music, began to take hold.

In the early ‘80’s Desii joined a group called Moja Nya with some longtime friends from Dominica playing Reggae, Calypso, Zouk and some R&B in venues around New York City. Starting out as rhythm guitarist and eventually switching to playing keyboards , his talent as a singer/songwriter soon emerged when he co-wrote and sang on their hit single “Rise Up”.

After a few years the band relocated to Washington D.C. where Desii continued to write, record and produce songs. Following some band member changes, Desii released his final cd under the name Moja Nya titled“A Moment In Meditation”. The first single release ‘Paradise’ was very successful with the music video being aired regularly on B.E.T .

In the mid ‘90’s Desii began working with the esteemed reggae artist Mr. Joseph Hill and the group Culture with whom he toured internationally for seven years. He then started working on his self-produced CD. 

Two years ago in 2009, an opportunity came for him to work with TOW and has been with them ever since. Desii recorded and produced songs on the TOW cd ‘Miracle’ .
